Home Weekend Camping Camp Acahela Campsites Leatherstocking
Leatherstocking Campsite

Leatherstocking is unique in that it is a classic "chain site" right out of the early days of Scouting. Five of the original eight patrol-sized clearings are linked by short footpaths to two central clearings that act as the site's Headquarters area. Located in the upper part of the camp on Upper Road, it has a "deep woods" feel to it and offers units a chance to be away from others without being too far from anything else. A great site for older Scouts or Venturing units.

Site Capacity: For medium to larger sized units
Special Features: Unique chain site in the forested part of the camp
Latrine type: Modern-style pit latrine shared with Crockett platform site

Site Access

Site is adjacent to Upper Road and can be easily accessed by 4WD SUVs and light trucks. There is room enough for one vehicle to be left at the site.
