Large Pines Campsite

The Large Pines site is a beautiful set set in a majestic old grove of large fir trees nestled in the corner of the camp's original Parade Field. The site is essentially a large clearing with a rock bluff at the back, the Lehigh River on one side and the Parade Field on the front.

Site Specifics

Large Pines in the Summer features:

  • Open-style camping
  • Large campfire circle
  • Sits right on the Lehigh River
  • 1 Picnic Table
  • Wooded area yielding a good amount of shade during the day.

Fall, Winter, and Spring features:

  • Great for fishing, flying model rockets, capture-the-flag, etc.
  • Usually accessible year-round

Camp Acahela

Site Access

Site is adjacent to the Lower Field and can be easily accessed by most vehicles. There is room enough for several vehicles to be left at the site and an ideal site if you need handicap access. A trailer can easily be towed to and maneuvered into the site. Site is a 10 to 15-minute walk uphill to the Dining Hall.

Other Points of Interest

  • Located just off the Lower Field
  • The Twins is the closest building to the site
  • On the Orienteering Course
  • Overlooks the Lehigh River with easy access to the Tobyhanna Creek and the Pond.

Fees

In-Council: $40.00 per weekend
Out-of-Council: $60.00 per weekend
