DESCRIPTION:On February 23 from 9 -3 the Dan Beard District will be conduct
 ing a District committee training /workshop.  The training will be held at
  the Scout Service and Training Center.  I strongly encourage all current 
 district committee members and unit commissioners to attend\, but it is op
 en to anyone who is interested in learning more about how a district funct
 ions.  The day will be divided into two sessions.\n\nThe morning session w
 ill include the  training and consist of four objectives:\n\n1. Define the
  four functions of district operation and list all the positions and struc
 tures of the district that carry out each of the four functions. List four
  tasks accomplished under each of the four functions.\n\n2. Identify the m
 ajor tasks of their specific committee or district assignment and define t
 he ways each task might be accomplished. \n\n3.  Tell why their particular
  assignment is essential to district operation.\n\n4. Name three other pos
 itions or committees of the district that they might need to talk with to 
 carry out their assignment in the district.\n\nThe afternoon session will 
 be the workshop portion of the training and will have three parts:\n\n1.	 
 State of the District: What has been working well and what do we need to i
 mprove?\n\n2.	 Planning the District calendar for the upcoming year.\n\n3.
 	Conduct the February District meeting.\n\nThe cost of this training is $5
  which will cover the cost of lunch and light refreshments in the morning.
   Please register no later than February 21 at the Scout Shop so that we c
 an accurately order the food.\n\nRegistration will begin at 8:30 and the t
 raining will start promptly at 9:00.
